I have noticed that some disappear temporarily on the odd thread.
Not sure what is happening there, but at least the posts appear to be safe.
Will keep an eye on it.

I think I may have figured it out, Lee.

It would seem that when a thread runs to 2 pages, most ( if not all ) of the posts from the previous page are included ( strangely ) as a bit of a reminder.
But on the 'ghost' post the avatar is not present.
