the alternative version 182 or overpaint job?

picked the team below up on ebay last week. saw it early and made him an offer.he was not a subbuteo trader/collector.
he said he thought it has been overpainted but that he did not do it himself and had no evidence to suppose it was overpainted other than it didnt seem to match any subbuteo ref.
i took a punt as it looked like it just may be an example of the alternative 182.
now it has arrived i am undecided so i wondered from the photos what anyone thought.

it doesnt have the usual white v neck and the backs have the whole area painted but the painting is consistent with subbuteo.
however,it could easily have been overpainted way back when this type of paint was available to all.

it may well be one you would want to see in the flesh before deciding and even then its a tough call but perhaps the lack of white v neck might decide it.and maybe also sloppy sock trim to the rear of some players.

to me from the photos it looks over painted . im no expert and dont say i am but just looks to messy .paint over the flesh looks just too much

You don't generally see SSG teams painted that high around the neck and as you say the sock trim is very inconsistent. I'm no expert either but I would think it was repainted.

From the photos it looks like an early ref 156 that's been overpainted Jon. Bring it to the next Lionhearts meet mate. I'll give it a once over for you if you wish.

yes i think you are all probably right but i will bring it to lionhearts sunday week ian
