Greetings!
I have recently dug out my Old Subbuteo, stored in a cupboard for 25 years and last used at University. I am looking at starting a bit of minor collecting, mostly as my stuff was heavily played with and isnt in the greatest condition. I have 19 teams, th emost intersting ones being:
196 Dundee (zombie)
209 Luton Town
326 WBA 2nd
206 Coventry City
and my favourite being only known as "Team 75", light blue/dark blue hoops. Honestly I can't remember who this was meant to be but its absolutely mint so must have been my favourite. Can anyone identify it for me?
These are all from the late 70s early 80s period. I hope the box numbers are correct, as it does seem I haven't been too careful at keeping the teams in the right boxes.
I have unfortunately ruined most of the others as when i got to Uni in Edinburgh in the mid 80s I repainted all of them (mostly badly
) into Scottish Club colours in order to do the entire Scottish FA Cup tournament !
First steps are to tidy up these Teams, get some new boxes and then start trying to replace the ones I have ruined, notably my "Southport/Arsenal 2nd" and "Blackpool/Holland". Since the new Teams are such a cheap thing to collect, I also plan on buying a few of those.
Any hints on collecting and identification of my teams welcome.
PS: I love the section on Leagues, that really took me back. I ran a Solo League for some time in the 70s/early 80s!
