another massive haul

back from hols friday night,off to high wycombe saturday morning to get a new suit and a pressie for the lad.

just parking up in the shopping centre carpark and its mr chris allen on phone.

he is up in scotland but has had a call from a woman with about 20 teams,etc and she is based in little missenden.chris said did i wish to give a call and meet her/do a deal.she said she had no odea what they were worth but wanted shot of them all quickly.

little missenden is about 15 mins from high wycombe so i met her about an hour later.

had it in my mind to offer £50 for 20 teams as i was not going to have time go go through them all so to some extent it would be a blind deal.

went through about 5 teams - all HW's btw - and some had painted numbers on shirts,reglues,etc.

anyway,got it all home and there were in fact 44 teams,a rugby set a crciket set and some grandstand stuff.

and all for £50!!

the england,israel,czech,morocco,mexico,belgium,sweden all in world cup boxes.

on of the ref 77's had a green/black base combo!



now i call that a result for £50.

they will all be on ebay this week

Oh, you bugger John! Thats the stuff dreams are made of (relatively speaking of course)!

Better than my £5 deal for 4 '80's boxed sets on saturday (which I thought was alright until I read this!!).

it was truly bizarre that i happned to be in that neck of the woods at the right time.

not often i pop out for a bit of shopping and come back with over 40 HW teams

There seems to be people actually motivated to go up in the loft and find things to sell at the moment. Perhaps the Recession is part of this.

also my advert is no where near as fruitfull as it used to be , got to look at a "40yr old box set " on wednesday evening apart from the decent haul i had a couple of weeks ago that has been it

Generally when football gets spoken about, i bring it into the conversation.



I mention that it's seen as a bit Geeky over here, but is seen as quiet retro cool in Europe. Tell them about the Oldsubbuteo scene, the social side of it, and the family side of it...the fact that people like Gigi Buffon play and collect. Suprising how a mental image can be portrayed and change peoples views on it. Seems to work...

chris has two or three more job lots on the go in the south right now.

as he is away for a while it seems likely i will do the deals.



btw 90% of the teams have gone on ebay tonight for 7 days if anyone is interested.
