Alternate HW31 - or a Repaint?

For your consideration:

Just spotted another one like it on the Vintage Subbuteo site:

Mine has brown hair/boots (quite rare in itself for a HW31), plus the white hoop on the socks has been painted.

Odd one that Ian. Certainly doesn't look like a repaint. I really don't know which Blackburn kit it is meant to represent though? Was the team in a reffed box? Presuming it was also a splash or later box too.

From the photo i would say it's a variant.

Got it in a joblot - the kind of selection that arrives with West Ham (HW7) in a HW25 box, etc., etc..

This one was in a 'short splasher' with no reference sticker. Pretty sure there has never been a reference sticker on the box (no hint of it, at either end) ... but there is the glue residue from a narrow taped label along the bottom of one end (a la 'West Ham' on the HW209).

76-7 Rovers kit is the closest Ian...Blue/White collars but Red short stripe..should really have Red on the socks too but there again who gives a flying whatsit nobody in Blackburn could afford to buy one anyway and there isn't room in their rat infested slums to set up a pitch.....

maybe someone painted it from home back in the day as opposed to a recent repaint job?

colours look ok though.
