1956/7 Popular Set (with deep box)

Acquired this set recently which had been up in a loft for several decades. This was the bottom of the range set which had card players and the paper nets, although this box was the updated deeper version so it could hold the goals without having to fold away after each game. The set came with a complete goal net sheet which I had not seen before together with full assembly instructions. Obviously this was never used, probably why the card players are in such great condition.

i am currently trying t collect all the 1940's and 1950's catalogues and that one there looks a beaut!

The paperwork with this set was in almost mint condition. It cost me a bit on eBay but worth it because everything was there. In the past I have spent more getting missing bits than if I had paid for a full set.

I've got a really nice set of reproductions of all the catalogues from 1948/9 to 1961/62 which somebody was selling a couple of years ago. They were also reproduced on the correct papers so they could easily pass as originals. nice to have for reference.

I was really surprised to find a complete sheet, i always thought they came already cut to size. When I was a kid a friend of mine had a set which his Dad used to have. We set the goals up but they were a bit of a joke compared to the continental ones we played with. I believe there was also some tape which you stuck the sheet onto the frame with, Peter Upton's site has a picture.
