1. The player not in possession ( defender ) is allowed to make a defensive flick after every attacking flick, in a bid to block their opponent
2. The attacking player does not have to wait for the defending player to take a block flick
Untaken block flicks cannot be carried over
3. The block flick can be taken as soon as the attacking player has flicked
The defender does not have to wait for the attacking figure to make contact with the ball before making a block flick
4. If the defensive figure comes into contact with the ball or another figure, a 'back' can be claimed
5. If the defensive figure comes into contact with a moving ball or figure, a 'moving back' can be claimed
When a 'moving back' is claimed, the figures and ball are placed where they were before the violation and the defending player loses the first defensive flick
The attacker can play advantage without claiming a 'back'
6. If the ball touches the flicked defender after the figure has stopped moving, it represents a good interception and a change of possession is called
7. The last figure to touch the ball determines which team is in possession
8. If the goalkeeper makes a save or touches the ball, possession is gained by the goalkeeper's team
9. If the goalkeeper makes a save and it rebounds and touches a figure on the other team, possession changes back to that team
10. When figures from both teams are deemed to be touching the ball simultaneously, the player in possession retains possession, but loses it once the next flick has been taken, unless the ball goes on to touch a different figure from the same team
