Tournament Rules and Guidelines

1. Register and payment at 1.15pm with Jon Rosten although we may take the opportunity to collect money from you earlier if the opportunity arises. Its £15 entry fee* per player.
2. The tournament is expected to run from 1.30pm until 6.30pm.
3. We are on a relatively tight schedule so please be ready for each of your matches to start promptly
4. The tournament Secretary is John Phillips and his decision is final.
5. There are no seedings for the tournament
6. There are four groups with the winner and runner up of each group qualifying for the quarter finals(QF).
7. Each match in the main tournament consists of 2 halves of ten minutes with 2 minutes break at half time.
8. There will be no more than 5 minutes break between each group match
9. All groups play their matches at the same time to central time keeping controlled by the tournament secretary.
10. The plate matches will be one period of 15 minutes. No half time.
11. PLEASE NOTE - no polishing of player bases is allowed at half time – this delays matches re-starting.
12. Home advantage gets the benefit in the event of doubt concerning a passage of play or incident where the match does not have a referee.
13. Referees will be provided (if possible) for quarter final stages onward ONLY.volunteers required please!
14. Where a referee is used the referees decision is final
15. Only the nominated group results contact to report results to the tournament secretary
16. Old Subbuteo playing Rules apply – a copy is available with the tournament secretary
17. Each player plays each other group member once in the group stages so everyone is guaranteed at least five games in the main tournament
18. Each table is numbered to correspond with the table number against each fixture
19. In the group stages 3 pts are awarded for a win and 1pt for a draw
20. In the event of a group points total draw the order in the group is then decided based on goal difference and if that is also equal then goals scored will decide.
21. In the event of there being a tie between runners up for QF qualification goal average will decide. If that fails then goals scored “For” will decide.
22. For those players eliminated from group stages a plate tournament is to be played and entry is automatic for players not qualifying for the main tournament QF’s. All rounds will be drawn ahead of the tournament day including the plate.In the event that someone decides no to play in the plate then their opponent get a bye to the next round.
23. In the event of a draw after normal time (in a knockout stage match) the result will be decided by a shooting line sudden death shoot out per team. No extra time to be played – we don’t have time.
24. Friendly/sporting matches are the order of the day.Anyone displaying unsporting behaviour in the opinion of the tournament secretary/organiser will receive one warning and should his behaviour continue to be unacceptable then the player will be asked to leave the tournament immediately and their results up that point will be void (unless disqualification occurs in the knockout stages when group stages results will remain)
