PostSubject: Muddy 1970's Pitches...   Muddy 1970's Pitches... EmptyThu Nov 08, 2012 10:53 pm

....Imagine replicating the muddy pitches of the 70's with our beloved game.

When playing...you start with a normal 'Clean' team, then start the 2nd half with one like below...

Thought i'd give it a go.

Any good?

I'm also thinking of replicating a muddy football pitch to play on. Will play around with a few ideas. It would be great if when the ball hit the muddy patches it slowed down like in real games.

Nicely done, Ian.
Try a thick gravy mix for the mud patches. Should arrest the ball nicely on impact.

Smile

Laughing I know Jimmer...i've let the south down.Embarassed I do refuse to do cheesy chips though...wtf is that about Laughing

My preferred choice of condiment with chips, is garlic mayo and leffe blond...the Belgiums know best on that one....bounce C'mon the Belgiums as Stuart Hall would shout at me through the telly box cheersLaughing

I've ordered one from Vintage Days not sure what he uses for the mud, probably some railway stuff. Apparently the ball doesn't exactly get stuck but it does slow it and cause skid. I'm having one made with mud in the centre circle and both penalty areas and goals, should be fun.

We may have done the chap from Vintage Days a disservice as it appears that those who thought Flick2Kick was the owner were mistaken. In any event if it had been the same person it seemed a strange way to sell a product by abusing potential customers.

Ian
Have you done anything more as regards the muddy pitch.
When I was a kid I used to simulate it with dry tea leaves ( not sophisticated I know )in patches on the pitch, it would be brown scenic scatter now.
It did tend to hold the ball up in some small way and you only had to brush it off later.
I would like to have the muddy pitch just for realism, separate pitches for different periods of the season.

Unfortunately i've been abroad and away from my Subbuteo for the last 5 months, so nothing happening.
I like your Tea leaves idea. Modelling dust would do the same if glued to the pitch.

Still in Canada mate...
Got your email regarding the meet, but haven't replied yet as i'm not 100% sure where i'm going to be.
If available... count me in... but I don't want to let you down by saying yes, as I maybe overseas again... everything is up in the air at the moment.
Hope all is good with you guys... missing the flicks and the banter Very Happy
