with Hw refs 210 and 216.bought this from mike peaock last year and he had bought it from a german seller in 2003.
odd that the shirt colours are brighter than is normal for these teams and also the stripe down the side of the shorts on the 210 is pink not white.
Jury is out on these teams but Mike swears they came from germany so maybe done in germany?we shall never know...
nice set anyway

Nice box set Jon.

I very much doubt if those were the original Teams in that box set, as the box set pre dates the release of the Teams.

What colour is the inner stripe on the 216? I've seen about 3 versions now.

Light blue, yellow/cream and white.

yes team and box set dates certainly been considered here ian.
mike P and i discussed dates ian and in fact this set was available in 1978 so we think it is possible that at the late end of this set that these teams did exist.
i will have to check the stripe at home ian tonight

Who know's...anything is possible with SSG.

Did they still sell this box set with a wire keeper right up to 1978 then?

here's a direct quote fro peter uptons site about the change from this set to the later sets

"1977-80 Re-boxed Editions.
Here is where I came in. My first set was the club edition shown below. These sets were initially produced with card interiors (mine was one of these), but the later ones had the polystyrene trays also used in the 1981 range. These trays help to keep the contents in fantastic condition - but of course, you could not fill your box with extra teams and accessories like I did.
There is some cross-over between these sets and the earlier ones. The 1977 catalogue showed the new Display and Club Editions, but the old Floodlighting and World Cup set. The 1977-78 box set flyer showed the new World Cup lid but it is on the old set. "

yes its certainly obviously going to be borderline but it is possible especially as this was an export. ie,earlier set sold later with later ref teams.
it is also possible that the original teams were refs 1 and 2 but the question is whether or not the two teams now in the set were done in the 1970's or much later and Mike wasnt 100% sure that they weren't done when the set was first sold.
i will show you the set the next time i see you but certainly the pink and the cream (?) is lighter/brighter than the teams i have in c100 boxes for these two.
we shall never be sure i think.

The colour is probably down too the fact that they haven't been played with that much mate. Everything looks brand spanking new.

Colours get darker, with the petina that builds up on them over time and with use. Boxed teams that have very little playwear and haven't seen the light of day, are always lighter in colour it seems.
