Gotta take every bit of success we can get now we're back in the top flight, Gully!

Even thought about making Joe a Saints Kite! You have to keep drip feeding those subliminals. Seeing Saints flying high can only serve to cement his belief in So'ton.

Very true, get them while they're young. Laughing Enjoy it Steve. A friend of mine is a Pompey supporter, when they went up I said make the most of it as you don't know how long it will last.

He reckoned in a couple of years they would be playing regularly in Europe etc. Now he thinks they could be out of the league in a couple. All in the space of about 5 years.

I know, it's shocking. To be honest, I'm kind of at a point where I don't get over excited when things are great, but also let it just wash over the top of my head when they're not.

I feel for Pompey fans, I really do. That was Saints a few years back, and it is very disheartening. I'm not one of those Saints fans that thinks ill of our neighbours. I like local derby matches and we're in danger of losing one. That's a sad day in my book.

Frank's certainly more prolific in your solo league, Steve.
He scored just 4 goals in that season, spearheading the attack.
Regardless, he was adored by Saints fans.

He was also loved at Brighton, shame it was short lived. I see Frank is 14th in the list of most League appearances 757 !

Jim. Glad you are enjoying the season. I'll post a league table at some time and give the stats on leading scorers. Leicester have held top spot for 9 weeks now.

Very Happy Solid 2 zip v Brum , can't argue with that Cool

Finished my 79/80 solo league will post final tables sometime

Started 1969/70 First Division already 4 games in , only 38 games for each team to go Shocked
Seems strange doing a League without Leicester City in , but still loving it .Doing EXACTLY the team line-ups that were used for each game that season Wink Gotta love Rothmans footy yearbooks Cool Damned annoying though , when a player scores a couple of goals and then doesn't feature in the next fixture Rolling Eyes Ooops , hi-jacking your thread a bit Steve , sorry Embarassed , will start a new one

Glad to see you starting out again Jim on the great adventure of a full season. I loved that period from 67 into the early 70's when the real entertainers were around. Not sure what I will do next after my season ends, may start at 79/80 and go through to 81/2.

Only the 2nd time I've done it Steve , did the 1968/69 season a few years ago which was won by Leicester (Yeah I know Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ) So 69/70 seemed the obvious one to do .Seriously don't think I've enough years left in me to play all the Subbuteo Leagues I would like Laughing

Yes Jon, half the fun of playing solo for me is naming the squads and keeping a record of the scorers. Amazing I can remember all these players but would not be able to do that from the 90's todate. Can't remember many Leeds players from that era though. Laughing

The week started off badly for leaders Leicester when they crashed to defeat at Everton. Fast improving Luton won again to put them 5 points away from Leicester.

By the end of the week Leicester were back to 5 points clear, stopping Luton with an away win at Kenilworth Road. Villa remain in second place but lost at relegation threatened Sunderland with a last minute goal from Rowell.

Good stuff, Gully!
What a reversal of fortunes for Liverpool!
If nothing else, at least Saints are above United.
What's with the Midlands monopoly?

Saints also have two games in hand, so may finish in the top half. Solo still amazes me, as I just can't seem to win a game with Liverpool. I think like real football its a confidence thing when you get stuck at the bottom.

Quite a lot of Midlands teams in that division.
